Becoming a Personal Assistant in some cases may just be about being in the right place at the right time.However, D.I.V.A.'s dream of becoming personal assistants and for them it is a passionate career choice. They search and seek the ideal position that will allow them to utilize their myriad of skills and knowledge in both a personal and professional setting. With that said most D.I.V.A.'s actually do have passions and interest that allow them to become long-term support for creative and industry specific needs.
D.I.V.A.'s have secretarial experience and a proven track record for loyalty. There is no specific education or job track that leads to the role of personal assistant. D.I.V.A.'s are typically extremely intellectual and adept to the latest business, technological, and personal trends. Simply put they are walking resources and know a little about a lot of things...or... a lot about a specific thing...Smile!!
Having a strong work ethic, displaying self-discipline and proving an ability to multi-task under pressure are a few of attributes that are found in a D.I.V.A. As tempting as becoming a D.I.V.A. may sound, there are some very important things to consider.
Although being a Personal Assistant can be fun, exciting, and come with a lot of perks, it is still work! The average full-time personal assistant may put in anywhere from 40 to 80 hours a week or more. When a client or boss decides to attend a week-long business seminar out of town, the personal assistant may have to accompany as well or assume additional duties at their home and or office.
There are also some benefits of being a Personal Assistant to consider. Personal assistants are often in a position to interact with high-level persons and executives, which could lead to an inside track on promotions or other job opportunities. Clients may also invite a personal assistant to attend business dinners or private parties. Vacations for Clients often become a working vacations for a personal assistant, with paid travel and an expense account. Working for a well-known clients or celebrities can also be a social perk, with invitations to movie openings, concerts or other high-profile events.
